Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Tessera Concierge Notary (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing our website or booking any of our mobile or remote notary services, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using our website or services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and any policies referenced herein, including our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Accessibility Statement.

2. Description of Services

Tessera Concierge Notary provides:

  • Mobile in-person notary services

  • Remote online notarization (RON) services (where allowable)

  • Travel-based concierge support services

  • Document signing assistance (non-legal)

Illinois Notarial Act Fee

Illinois law requires a $5 per act fee for notarial acts.
All additional charges listed on this site (including travel, concierge, remote service, evening, weekend, same-day, or urgent fees) are separate and permissible service fees, not notarial fees.

3. Appointment Requirements

To complete your notarization, you must:

  • Present a valid government-issued photo ID

  • Have all required signers present

  • Provide complete documents (we do not draft or provide legal documents)

  • Confirm your booking details (address, time, service type)

  • Ensure the environment is safe and accessible for the notary

If the notary arrives and the required conditions are not met, the appointment may be cancelled or billed as a no-show according to our Refund Policy.

4. Payments
  • Full payment is required at the time of booking.

  • Payments are processed securely through third-party providers.

  • We do not store full payment card details on our servers.

  • Additional fees may apply for add-ons, travel, waiting time, or special services.

5. Client Responsibilities

By booking, you agree that:

  • You are legally able to request a notarization.

  • You will not request the notarization of incomplete, forged, or fraudulent documents.

  • You understand that notaries are not attorneys and cannot give legal advice or select legal forms for you.

If a notary suspects fraud, coercion, or an illegal request, service will be declined.

6. Cancellations, Rescheduling & Refunds

Cancellations and refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which states:

  • Cancellations more than 12 hours before the appointment: full refund (minus third-party processing fees)

  • Cancellations within 12 hours: 50% refund

  • No-shows or cancellations within 2 hours: no refund

  • If the notary arrives and service cannot be completed due to client error (invalid ID, missing signer, unsafe environment, inaccessible location, etc.), the appointment is treated as a no-show

You may reschedule once without penalty when done more than 12 hours before the appointment.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in question.

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages.

  • We are not responsible for delays or inability to perform caused by events outside our control (weather, emergency conditions, illness, etc.).

8. No Legal Advice

Tessera Concierge Notary is not a law firm.
We do not provide:

  • Legal advice

  • Legal document drafting

  • Legal representation

  • Selection of legal forms

You are responsible for ensuring your documents are correct and legally suitable for notarization.

9. Service Refusal

We reserve the right to refuse service if:

  • Fraud is suspected

  • A signer appears unwilling or coerced

  • Valid ID is not provided

  • The location is unsafe or inaccessible

  • Documents appear incomplete or inappropriate for notarization

Refunds will follow the Refund Policy.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois.
Any disputes must be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Illinois.

11. Modifications

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
Changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
Continued use of our website or services signifies acceptance of any updated terms.
